Noah's Ark Psychotherapy
Frequently asked questions
General
Psychotherapy is a confidential, collaborative process that offers space to reflect on your inner experience, relationships, and patterns over time. It provides an opportunity to explore thoughts, emotions, behaviours, attitudes and bodily responses in the context of a professionally held therapeutic relationship.
In other words, psychotherapy is a relationship based reflective practice where you can explore your struggles, suffering as well as your resources in the framework of a therapeutic relationship.
Many people seek psychotherapy not because something is “wrong”, but because they are navigating change, strain, or complexity — often while continuing to function well in their lives. Psychotherapy supports greater self-understanding, clarity, and the capacity to engage with life more consciously.
There are many different psychotherapy schools and approaches. Research shows therapeutic relationship is the most important determinant in therapy regardless of the theoretical background.
I am trained in humanistic and integrative approach. Humanistic approach mainly refers to Carl Roger’s framework that psychological change occurs in a supportive therapeutic relationship characterized by unconditional positive regard, empathy, and genuineness. Integrative approach means that diverse therapeutic approaches can be used on the core humanistic approach, based on the needs of the client and the phase of psychotherapy. In this framework, I draw thoughtfully from various approaches including psychodynamic, existential, Cognitive Behaviour Theory (CBT), gestalt, psychosynthesis, trauma informed and body-oriented approaches.
I am especially interested in body-oriented approaches. This involves paying attention to how experiences may be held in the body and working gently with what emerges, supporting regulation, connection, and a sense of safety over time.
When I welcome you into the session, I put all the theories and approaches to the side, and listen to what you are bringing in, one human being to another.
Psychotherapy is for anyone who is willing to look into themselves in order to create a change.
You may come to therapy for something which causes suffering which can be specific or general, which can be due to a recent event, a recurring condition that repeats itself or existential questions.
If you are feeling stuck, down, heavy, lonely, alienated, at a loss or not like yourself; and wish for a change in your feelings, thoughts, attitudes, behaviours; psychotherapy can offer a safe, confidential framework to make sense of what is really happening, to reflect and gradually sense the way forward.
Maybe there is a recent event that was too much or you may be going through a transition, or you may be asking more existential questions to yourself or you may be tired of pushing yourself without taking sufficient rest …
If you have become aware of something, which may not be clear, that causes suffering; and if you are curious and willing to look at what is really happening for you, psychotherapy may support you to explore it in a curious, non-judgemental, gentle way.
The initial session is an opportunity to begin getting a sense of each other and of what brings you to therapy. We will talk about what prompted you to seek support, what you hope for from psychotherapy, and how you experience your current situation.
There is no expectation to share more than feels comfortable. The pace is guided by you. I will also outline practical and ethical aspects of the work, including confidentiality, boundaries, and how therapy may proceed if we decide to work together.
Yes, I offer psychotherapy online or in person in Dublin, based on your preferences.
Yes. Your privacy is of utmost importance, and the information you share remains protected in accordance with professional ethical standards. I follow the ethical guidelines established by the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP). Confidentiality, and its boundaries, will be explained to you in detail during your first session.
Each session lasts 50 minutes.
My standard fee is €50 per 50-minute session. I aim to make therapy accessible, and if finances are a concern, we can discuss your circumstances and explore a fee arrangement that works, so that cost does not prevent you from accessing support
